NaijaTalkTalk- Gov. Lalong sends N6.5bn supplementary budget proposal to Assembly

The Plateau Governor, Mr Simon Lalong, has sent N6.5 billion supplementary budget proposal to the State House of Assembly for approval.


This was contained in a communication from the governor read at Tuesday’s plenary by the Speaker of the House, Mr Peter Nazi.

According the communication, the need for a supplementary budget became necessary owing to upward review in the activities of some Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state.

”The need for a supplementary budget for 2016 has become imperative due to the increased financial spending of some MDAs in the state,’’

It also said that there the need to meet up with these huge demands of running governance and meeting with the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

The communication said that the request for the passage of the supplementary budget was in accordance with Section 121 and 123 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

It explained that over N2.1 billion of the budget would go into recurrent expenditure, while over N3.9 billion would go into capital expenditure.

If the supplementary budget scales through and passed, the 2016 budget of the state would be over N152.8 billion.

Over N146. 7 billion of the budget has already been appropriated.
The House had slated Dec 13 for the seconding reading of the bill.
