Cape Town - Super Eagles midfielder, Ejike Uzoenyi says the
team will compensate Nigerians with a victory over Zimbabwe to finish third at
the 2014 African Nations Championship.
Nigeria lost 4-1 to Ghana via penalties in the semi-final to set up a third place battle against Zimbabwe.
Uzoenyi, who almost passed out after a colliding with Black Stars defender, Kwabena Adusei, said he was still sad that the Eagles lost the match after his near fatal accident, but promised that he will be ready for the third place match against the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
“It’s the only thing we have to leave here with and we are determined to compensate Nigerians with a third place finish”, he said.
The game between Nigeria and Zimbabwe kicks off by 4pm Nigerian time, and will be followed by the final match between Ghana and Libya.
