About 5,000 youths from Plateau State
have, so far, undergone training and skills acquisition in computer,
catering, tailoring and leather works by organized by Apurimac Onlus, a
Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
The country coordinator of Apurimac
Onlus, Godwin Okoko, who made this known during the graduation of 340
youths from Jos north and south local government areas, said the
trainees have undergone six months of training.
Okoko said “the 340 graduating youths today bring the total number of trained youths to 5,000 since Apurimac Onlus commenced its activities in Plateau State in 2007.”
According to him, the programme has “reduced poverty, unemployment, helped in mitigating conflicts, promoted relationship among people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds.”
