Nigerian supporters held hostage over hotel bills

Some members of the Nigeria Football and other sports Supporters Club were on Saturday prevented from checking out of their Waterfront Suites abode in Cape Town, South Africa, for alleged failure to pay bills running into 10,000 Rands (about N200,000).
The Supporters Club members, about 14 of them, were exiting Cape Town to Johannesburg where they would connect an 8.45 a.m. today’s flight to Lagos; but were held up in the hotel  from about 10:00 a.m. (check-out time) to about 1:45 p.m. Nigerian time (2:45 p.m. local time).
Attempts to get officials of the Supporters Club to comment on the issue proved abortive as they were engaged in frantic attempts to clear the mess.
President General of the club, Rafiu Oladipo, was said to have departed South Africa to Lagos after the Nigeria versus Ghana semi-final match of the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).
