No doubt, technology and the digital web is shaping the future of education in Nigeria as entrepreneurs are creating new and exciting ways for individuals to learn and interact online.
Here are five of the startups that are shaping the future of online education in Nigeria, in no particular order:
1. Fora
Fora offers affordable accredited online university courses from internationally recognised schools like MIT for young Africans with Internet access.
2. Beni American University
BAU is revolutionizing education in Africa by implementing a unique hybrid (online/on-campus) model where at the end of every programme, students are required to undertake a physical examination. Its online programmes are specifically designed for those who wish to build their professional portfolios but are constrained by time, location and the demands of their on-going jobs.
3. Efiko
Efiko is a mobile app that enables students to interact with courses they want to learn more about, thus enhancing learning through self-assessment.
4. MySchool
As Nigeria’s largest students’ and educational resource website, MySchool features relevant news, information, events and discussion forums for all the Universities and Polytechnics in Nigeria. It also allows students to study by taking online tests in virtually all subjects in its digital classroom, alongside post-UTME past questions and answers as well as JAMB past questions.
5. PassNowNow
Like MySchool, PassNowNow aims to foster real-time learning and discussions online especially for secondary school students. PNN offers a wide range of WAEC and JAMB past questions for students preparing for SSCE and UTME exams.
