Back to Africa:
Our thinking is that the RedBus success above can be replicated in Africa, if the context problems can be identified and solved effectively.
- Africa has over 2000 bus operators.
- Who own from 5 to 4000 buses each,
- with revenues between 500K to 100M Usd each.
- a very fragmented market with a variety of offerings from many operators.
- With an avg ticket price is $15 Usd,
- And over 1 Billion trips happening in Africa Annually.
- In countries like Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, etc, collectively.
- A trip could be Lagos to Abuja, Nairobi to Mombasa, Johannesburg to Cape Town, etc.
Travelers have to manually walk the parks to be able to purchase bus tickets.
- This makes is it difficult to compare prices and quality of services between operators.
- No easy way to book tickets from home, office or work place.
- No easy way to validate official charges.
- No easy way to discover great offers, discounts and deals.
Bus operators are also:
- unable to predict demand and hence use their buses efficiently.
- There are revenues loses via pilfering and theft by managers, where a manger loads 15 buses and reports 10.
- In ability to track vehicles via gps for security and accounting bases.
- And so on.

- What if there was a platform that has all the bus operators in Africa
- what if it where possible to navigate the whole market from your mobile phone?
- What if it was possible to see the most liked operators, with best prices just by scrolling through your phone.

- Enabling them serve customers more effectively.
