Former Nigerian international and Enyimba striker, Victor Ezeji has expressed deep conviction that the Nigerian champions will not lose the reverse Caf Champions League clash at Egyptian giants, Zamalek SC.

The People’s Elephant will be the guests of the North African side in the Caf Champions League matchday 3 group clash on Sunday, August 14 at the Petro Sport in Cairo, Egypt.

The Nigerian campaigners lost 0-1 to Zamalek SC in the first fixture clash at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Ezeji said though Enyimba got the act wrong at the start of the race to allow the Egyptian side unhindered access to the crucial three points they will certainly get it right in Cairo to chance qualification to the semifinals of Africa’s first tier club competition.

“Enyimba remain great team in the land and Africa though started the campaign wrongly losing first two matches to Zamalek and South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns I strongly believe they are still very much in the race to qualify for the semifinals stage of the competition.

“I do not think Enyimba will lose the reverse clash at Zamalek, Zamalek were damn lucky to win the first clash in Port Harcourt.

“A win at Zamalek in Cairo, Egypt will restore Enyimba’s hope for the last four tickets before the last group match on home soil against the South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns.

“The clash at Zamalek is crucial and decisive for both teams progression in the competition.
“Zamalek are beatable and vulnerable as shown by the South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns.
“Enyimba will surely get the act right and key into Sundowns’ footpath to earn the vital win at Zamalek,” said the former Dolphins and Sharks marksman to supersport.com.

The Nigerian representatives are bottom of the three-team Group B without a point after two matches while Sundowns are firmly atop the log on nine points as well as secured for the semis and the Egyptian side are second on three points and must beat Enyimba to guarantee semifinals spot.

Enyimba’s last group match will be against the South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday, August 23 at adopted ground, Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
