PDP to contest South-East Senatorial District result |
The faction also said that it would contest some other outstanding issues in the Saturday’s re-run elections.
The faction made its intention known in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, in Abuja.
It said that PDP was law-abiding and would contest all issues legally.“We believe that the court will do justice to all the issues.
“ It is important to note, once again, that the Rivers South-East Senatorial District election purportedly won by Sen. Magnus Abe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) still remains a farce and will be contested at the tribunal.
“For the umpteenth time, we re-iterate that there was no election in that senatorial district.’’
He alleged that the declared result was influenced the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.’’
Adeyeye congratulated the government and people of Rivers for the triumph of the PDP in the re-run elections.
He said that the results of the elections declared so far by INEC showed that the PDP won two senatorial seats, six House of Representatives seats and 10 state House of Assembly seats.
Adeyeye commended the zeal, determination and support of Gov. Nyesom Wike during the election.
“Rivers people have shown that the will of the people cannot be defeated.
“We are particularly proud of all our candidates in the elections for remaining united in the face of daunting provocations.
“We congratulate the winners on their victory, and those that were frustrated, fortheir gallant performances.
“Finally, we thank all PDP supporters nationwide for their support and
contributions during the re-run elections in Rivers.
